In Search Of A Godly Father

Here is a chapter from a book i wrote titled : In Search Of A Godly Father :

Chapter 1

Guilty as Charged

On Aug 7, 2007 I and my wife were talking. We have been separated since May 2007 and we been trying to work things out.

She shared two hurts with me that I didn't realize and iam going to share them here.

1. You didn't care about our baby. She was right; she told me she sensed that I was not thrilled with the pregnancy.

I told her when she called me that I was shocked and wasn't really ready for another child. My reaction was what am I going to do now?

I didn't show any affection to the pregnancy or the birth until six months after Chanel was born. It was only then that I started bonding with Chanel my baby.

I didn't realize it then but I had hardened my heart to my child and that is something no godly man should do.

I told her I was very sorry for that hurt.
2. Taking my babies to daycare. She told me that she was also hurt that I didn't take time to take the babies to daycare. I always had an excuse of having to go in town for business; that I had a meeting to go to etc., etc., etc. I made a promise that I would start taking them to daycare and I intend to keep that promise.

It's so easy to cross the line from being a godly father to a worldly father if we are not careful. We need to stay rooted in biblical principles to be a blessing to our children. We need to take a deep look inside and see if there is anything that we had done to be a godly father to our children. Ask yourself:
Ask yourself:

1. Do I take my children for walks?

2. Do I offer to take my children to school? Daycare?

3. Do I offer to give my spouse a break from the children?

4. Do I take my children out to the mall? Movies? Etc.?

5. Do I read stories to my children?

6. Do I talk to my children?

7. Do I tell them I love them?

8. Do I hug them?

If you answer no to any of these questions:
1. Confess to God and ask him to make you a better father.
2. Confess to your spouse and pray together about it.
3. Put your faith in action with your children.
